It’s Christmas Eve – 8:57pm. Kids are in bed with thoughts of sugarplums and gender-appropriate toys in their heads, the parents are slowly Santa-izing the house, and everyone’s just in a good mood.
I’m here to put a damper on that by just reminding you to think about the one’s who are not here to celebrate Christmas or the holidays with their family, especially those we’ve lost this year and those who are in the theater of these wars we are engaged in. I’ve lost one of my best friends this year, and my brother is spending his second Christmas in Iraq. He’ll be home soon, but my friend will never see the gleem in his young son’s eye opening Christmas gifts, and that truly saddens me.
On that note, may you all have a Merry Christmas (or appropriate holiday that you celebrate), and a wonderful New Year (albeit I expect I’ll be posting some between now and then).
