Pea Soup

So I used the words Pea Soup to describe the heavy fog we have in Little Rock (and have had for a good portion of today) on a conference call with some folks from California, and a British fellow on the call stated that he had never heard that used in the US – only back in the UK (actually called it sentimental). So here’s the question: do you use pea soup to describe heavy fog where you are at, or is it just one of those things that only I would use?
